How to put a SD card in the H4N
- Open the cover.
- Insert SD card.
- Be sure that the SD card logo if facing the front of the H4N.
- If the SD card is bent in any way, do not insert it into the H4N!
- Once you hear a click, you're done!

- Imagine you're shaking a hand upside down and grip the cable
- Rotate your wrist back to normal and loop the cable

Animation Copy Stands are found in the Becker Communication Studies Building (BCSB) in rooms 216 BCSB, 313 BCSB, 345 BCSB, and Studio B 221B BCSB.
Other equipment and accessories
- Attach tripod plate to camera.
- Clamp the camera to the tripod.
- Attach shoe mount to the H4N.
- Mount H4N on the camera.
- Be sure that the equipment is secure.
- Connect the splitter cable to the H4N line-in.
- Connect the mini cable to one end of the splitter.
- Connect the other end of the mini cable to the camera mic-in.
- Connect headphones to the open end of the splitter.
- Use headphones to monitor your audio.
- Connect XLR cable to H4N.
- Either input 1 or 2 will do.
- Connect the Lavalier mic to the XLR cable.
- Give this to your interviewee/talent.
Now everything is set up! There are a few settings that need to be changed on the equipment before the recording!
- On the H4N go to: menu > input > phantom, Select +24V.
- Select mic input 1/2 on H4N.
- Press record to enter standby mode.
- You should be able to hear audio now.
- Adjust rec level accordingly.
- Set volume to "55"!
- On camera: menu > sound recording > rec. level.
- Move the slider all the way to the left!
- Then move it 1 tick to the right.
- Now you are ready to shoot video. Have fun!
Never rewind film on this machine; it has a design flaw that will burn out the rewind motor in seconds.
